7 – Another 10 minute study
Some elements of this I like rather a lot though there are a few issues as well….. Sky is rather odd if you analyse it at all!

5 – Rapid Notebook landscape
Deliberately very simple landscape done at speed (i.e. between 5 and 10 minutes). Hoping that by getting better at working quickly I’ll get better generally.

3 – Langdale Pikes from Blea Tarn
Part way through the process I was particularly interested in capturing the sun on the distant hills. I had about 3 attempts at the sky before I had enough.

2 – Start Point
Oil on canvas and a view I will come back to. A very special place in South Devon. Shows the perils of using a pre-painted background sea and sky and putting landscape over the horizon. Also horizons ought to be a bit more horizontal. Took a few hours and the cliffs proved a particular challenge.…

1- Brailes Hill
Oil on canvas – layed on thick. Brailes Hill in South Warwickshire very near where I lived for most of my childhood.
